Winnie the Pooh Kids Dress

This was the first time I’d made an item of clothing so I went for something small and some what simple! This is the Butterick pattern 3405 and I chose to make the top from C which was just long enough to be a dress on Vienna. I actually didn't realise that it had pants too because you can't see them in the picture of the baby on the packaging!

For the most part, it was easy to follow (with the help of google and my mum for jargon busting) but the hardest part was the sleeve seam because you have to ease the fabric through the machine which I couldn't get my head around. It took a few goes to get it lined up but I had to just go for it and hope for the best! I'm very much a perfectionist so 'just going for it' was hard but I'm realising that that's the only way for me to master tricky sewing techniques. If it goes wrong then I know for next time.

I loved putting the darts in the front of the dress though which is probably the easiest thing to do. It was so satisfying to see it come together and I must of said "AWW" 100 times while making the dress!

Here's a few pictures of the finished dress, I think it turned out pretty good for a first go! can't wait to get started on the next one!
